Manufacturer's description

Mobil Delvac Modern 10W-40 Super Defense V1 is an extra-high-performance diesel engine oil built on advanced synthetic technology, engineered to lubricate modern, high-performance diesel engines used in severe on- and off-highway applications. Its high-performance base oils deliver excellent low-temperature fluidity, high-temperature viscosity retention, volatility control and fuel-economy improvement potential, enhanced by an advanced additive system providing a high level of protection to all engine parts and engineered for long oil-drain intervals. Recommended for naturally aspirated and turbo-charged diesel engines built by European and Japanese manufacturers, it serves on-highway light and heavy-duty trucking as well as off-highway construction, mining, quarrying and agriculture. Key benefits include outstanding protection against oil thickening, high-temperature deposits, sludge, oil degradation and corrosion for reduced wear and long engine life; stay-in-grade shear stability and low volatility that reduce viscosity breakdown and oil consumption under heavy-duty, high-temperature conditions; and an excellent viscosity index for a wide range of engine and temperature applications. The product carries approvals from Mack (EO-M Plus, EO-N), Renault Trucks (RLD-2), Volvo (VDS-3), MAN (M 3277) and MTU (Category 3), and is recommended for API CF, Renault Trucks RLD, Volvo VDS-2 and Cummins CES 20072, while meeting or exceeding API CH-4/CI-4, ACEA E4/E7, Renault Trucks RXD and Scania LDF-3. It is an SAE 10W-40 grade with viscosity index 154, TBN 15.3 mgKOH/g and pour point -42°C.

Applications

  • Recommended by ExxonMobil for use in: • Naturally aspirated and turbo-charged diesel powered engines built by European and Japanese manufacturers. • On-highway light and heavy-duty trucking. • Off-highway industries including: construction, mining, quarrying, and agriculture.

Standards & approvals

  • RENAULT TRUCKS RLD-2

Renault Trucks RLD-2 — heavy-duty diesel engine oil

Renault Trucks' specification for extended-drain truck engine oils at the ACEA E7 level, without a low-ash requirement.

  • Volvo VDS-3

Volvo's engine oil specification for Euro III–V trucks without a particulate filter, with severe soot control requirements for EGR engines.

  • MAN M 3277

    MAN M 3277 — extended-drain engine oil

MAN's specification for synthetic extended-drain truck engine oils, in engines without a particulate filter.

  • MTU Oil Category 3

MTU's highest oil quality category: multigrade oils for the most severe MTU engine duty.

  • DTFR 15B120

Daimler Truck DTFR 15B120 (formerly MB 228.5) — multigrade engine oil, high TBN

An engine oil for high-performance diesel engines without aftertreatment, carrying a higher alkaline reserve (TBN) than the 228.3 level. Daimler Truck renumbered the MB-Approval sheets into the DTFR series; MB 228.5 and DTFR 15B120 are the same requirement.Source

  • API CF

Diesel engine oil, API CF performance level

API's service category for indirect-injection diesel engines, tolerant of higher-sulphur fuel. An earlier category in the API service classification, written for the engines of its era; it still appears on datasheets alongside the current categories.Source

  • VOLVO VDS-2

Volvo VDS-2 — Volvo diesel engine oil

The second generation of the Volvo Drain Specification, for heavy-duty diesel engines without aftertreatment. Withdrawn, but still quoted for older fleets.

  • Cummins CES 20072

Cummins' engine oil specification for the diesel engine generation preceding cooled EGR. Superseded by CES 20076 and later.

  • API CH-4

Diesel engine oil, API CH-4 performance level

API's service category for compression-ignition engines. Current category.Source
