Manufacturer's description

Mobil Pegasus 805 is a premium performance gas engine oil engineered to meet the demands of today's high-output four-cycle engines designed to reduce emissions and improve fuel efficiency, which generally operate under high load and high temperature conditions. It is made from high-quality base stocks and an advanced additive system delivering exceptional oxidation stability, nitration resistance and thermal stability, with a detergent/dispersant system that controls carbon deposits, lacquer and sludge for cleaner engines, longer oil life and reduced filter costs. The oil provides exceptional protection against piston scuffing, scoring, and ring and liner wear, along with excellent resistance to foaming, good demulsibility and corrosion protection. It is formulated with very low levels of zinc and phosphorus, making it compatible with engines fitted with catalytic converters, and is aimed at Caterpillar, Superior, Waukesha and other turbocharged or naturally aspirated medium- to high-speed four-cycle engines requiring a low-ash oil, including lean-burn and stoichiometric engines and applications using sour gas fuels with low H2S levels. Mobil Pegasus 805 carries a broad set of approvals, including Caterpillar Energy Solutions TR 2105, INNIO Jenbacher TI 1000-1109 (Class A, B and C fuel gas), INNIO Waukesha Engine 220GL and cogeneration/gas compression applications, Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) LNG engines, MTU Gas Engines S4000 series, MWM TR 0199-99-2105, Perkins Gas Engine Oil, several Wärtsilä engine series, and Rolls-Royce Solutions Augsburg (former MTU Onsite Energy) Series 400 engines, and meets or exceeds Caterpillar requirements. Typical properties include SAE 40 grade, kinematic viscosity of 13.5 mm²/s at 100°C, viscosity index 99, sulfated ash of 0.5%, and a base number of 6.4 mg KOH/g.

Applications

  • • Caterpillar, Superior, Waukesha and other turbocharged, naturally aspirated, medium to high speed four-cycle engines requiring a low ash oil • Engines experiencing valve face and seat wear • Lean-burn and stoichiometric four-cycle engines • Engines equipped with catalytic converters • Applications using alternate fuels containing low levels of sulfur or chlorine • In field gathering operations where sour gas (low levels of H2S) is used as fuel

Performance & benefits

  • Exceptional Oxidation and Nitration ResistanceLonger oil and filter service Improved engine performance Reduced scoring, scuffing and wear of pistons and liners
  • Outstanding Anti-wear and Anti-scuff protectionHigh level of protection in fully loaded engines Reduced maintenance costs Excellent protection of valve train components
