Manufacturer's description

Mobil Pegasus 1005 is a high-performance gas engine oil designed to provide today's high-output, low-emission four-cycle gas engines with the highest levels of protection while maintaining superior performance in earlier model engines. Using high-quality base stocks and advanced additive technology, it delivers exceptional oxidation stability, nitration resistance and thermal stability, with a formulation balanced for outstanding anti-wear protection of heavily loaded valve train components, pistons, liners, bearings and gear trains, while maintaining compatibility with catalytic converter materials. Its detergent-dispersant system controls carbon and varnish deposit formation to minimize oil consumption and keep engines clean during extended drain intervals. Mobil Pegasus 1005 (SAE 40) is designed for use in Caterpillar, MWM GmbH (formerly Deutz Power Systems), Jenbacher, Rolls-Royce-Bergen, Wartsila, Waukesha and other turbocharged or naturally aspirated, medium-to-high-speed four-cycle engines requiring a low-ash oil, in lean-burn and stoichiometric designs under high load and temperature. It suits high-speed cogeneration engines, natural gas engines fitted with catalytic converters, alternate fuels with low sulfur or chlorine, and field gathering operations using sour gas with H2S content below 0.1% (1000 ppm). The product holds an extensive list of OEM approvals, including Caterpillar Energy Solutions TR 2105 (CG132, CG170, CG260), Caterpillar/MaK 4-Stroke Medium Speed Engines, INNIO Jenbacher TI 1000-1109 (Type 2, 3, 4B and 6E), INNIO Waukesha Engine 220GL and cogeneration applications, MAN M 3271-2, MTU Gas Engines S4000 and Series 4000, MWM TR 0199-99-2105, Perkins Gas Engine Oil, and multiple Wartsila and Bergen Engines (former Rolls-Royce Bergen) gas engine series, and meets API CF requirements.

Applications

  • Mobil Pegasus 1005 is designed for use in: • Caterpillar, MWM GmBh (Formerly Deutz Power Systems), Jenbacher, Rolls Royce-Bergen, Wartsila, Waukesha and other turbocharged, naturally aspirated, medium to high speed four-cycle engines requiring a low ash oil • Lean-burn and stoichiometric four-cycle engines operating under high load, high temperature conditions • High-speed four-cycle gas engines used in cogeneration applications • Natural gas fueled engines equipped with catalytic converters • Applications using alternate fuels containing low levels of sulfur or chlorine • Field gathering operations where sour gas, with H2S content ‹ 0.1% (1000 ppm), may be used as fuel

Performance & benefits

  • Improves oil drain intervalreduces number of oil changes and oil purchases, creates less waste oil and labor to help lower operating
  • Extended Oil Life costs and increase engineavailability
  • Increased engine availabilityenables higher productivity
  • Keep Clean Helps control deposits incombustion chamber and on pistons to maximize engine efficiency and reliability
  • Performance Helps control deposits inheat exchangers to maximize heat production
  • Low oil volatility helpsminimize engine and exhaust system deposits to help extend catalytic converter life and extend intervals
  • Low Oil Consumption between heat exchangercleanings
  • Helps reduce make up oiladditions and lubricant purchases
  • Exceptional Wear Helps control wear on criticalengine components
  • Protection Maximizes engine reliabilityand performance

Standards & approvals

  • INNIO Waukesha Engine 220GL Applications Using Pipeline Quality Gas

INNIO Waukesha 220GL — natural gas engine oil

The INNIO Waukesha requirement for oil in the 220GL series running pipeline-quality gas, where ash must stay in the window that protects the valve seats without forming deposits.

  • MAN M 3271-2

    MAN M 3271-2 — biogas engine oil

The MAN specification variant for engines running biogas or landfill gas, where the oil must neutralise the acids formed from gas impurities.

  • MWM TR 0199-99-2105

MWM TR 0199-99-2105 — gas engine oil

The MWM — today Caterpillar Energy Solutions — technical requirement for the oils in its own stationary gas engines, with controlled ash to protect the valves.

  • Wartsila 220SG

Wärtsilä 220SG — gas engine oil

The Wärtsilä requirement for oil in its 220SG series stationary gas engines, with the ash level and alkaline reserve matched to the gas burned.

  • Wartsila 28SG

Wärtsilä 28SG — gas engine oil

The Wärtsilä requirement for oil in its 28SG series gas engines.

  • Wartsila 34SG

Wärtsilä 34SG — gas engine oil

The Wärtsilä requirement for oil in its 34SG series gas engines.

  • API CF

Diesel engine oil, API CF performance level

API's service category for indirect-injection diesel engines, tolerant of higher-sulphur fuel. An earlier category in the API service classification, written for the engines of its era; it still appears on datasheets alongside the current categories.Source
