Manufacturer's description

Mobil Pegasus 710 is a premium performance gas engine oil primarily intended for the lubrication of modern high-speed four-cycle engines where oil consumption is very low, typically lean-burn designs where increased manifold pressures limit lubricant reaching the valve guide areas. It is also recommended for lubricating gas compressors. The oil is formulated from high-quality mineral base oils with an advanced medium-ash additive system that protects engine and compressor components while offering high chemical stability and resistance to oxidation and nitration. Pegasus 710 provides outstanding resistance to valve train wear and deposit formation, and its effective detergency and dispersancy control ash and carbon build-up that could otherwise cause poor performance or detonation. Its high reserve alkalinity and TBN retention make it suitable for engines running on fuels containing low levels of corrosive materials such as hydrogen sulphide, while excellent anti-corrosion properties prevent corrosive wear in cylinders, valve areas and bearings. Anti-wear and anti-scuff performance ensures minimal piston scuffing, scoring, and cylinder and ring wear. Mobil Pegasus 710 is approved for INNIO Waukesha cogeneration and gas compression applications, Rolls-Royce Solutions Augsburg (former MTU Onsite Energy) Series 400 engines on biogas, sewage gas and landfill gas, MAN M 3271-4, INNIO Jenbacher TI 1000-1109 (Class B fuel gas, Type 2 & 3), Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) 4-stroke medium-speed LNG engines, and GUASCOR natural gas engines. Typical properties include SAE 40 grade, kinematic viscosity of 13.2 mm²/s at 100°C, viscosity index 98, sulfated ash of 1.0%, and a base number of 6.8 mg KOH/g.

Applications

  • • Spark ignited four-cycle gas engines with very low oil consumption • Engines experiencing valve train wear and corrosion • Engines operating on fuel containing low levels of sulphur and chlorine compounds • Reciprocating compressor cylinders compressing natural gas • High output or ambient rated engines operating at or in excess of rated capacity under high temperatures

Performance & benefits

  • Mobil Pegasus 710 Gas Engine Oil provides cleaner engines, lower wear rates and improved engine performance. The use of this product will result in reduced maintenance costs and improved production capacity. Their excellent chemical and oxidation stability results in longer drain periods and reduced filter costs. The high reserve alkalinity of this product allows its use in engines operating on fuels with low amounts of corrosive materials in the fuel gas.
