Manufacturer's description

Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra is a high-performance gas engine oil designed for the lubrication of modern medium- and high-speed four-cycle engines operating on landfill, biomass or other fuels containing corrosive contaminants such as hydrogen sulphide or halogens. It is a 1.0% sulfated ash, high Total Base Number (TBN) SAE 40 formulation with exceptional reserve alkalinity that offsets the corrosive effects of these contaminants, and it can also be used to lubricate reciprocating compressors in landfill and biomass gas service. The oil delivers outstanding anti-wear and anti-scuff performance, minimising piston scuffing, scoring, and cylinder and ring wear, while its excellent oxidation and chemical stability keep engines cleaner and support extended oil drain intervals even with highly contaminated fuel. Effective corrosion resistance protects valve guides, bearings and other internal components, helping reduce liner scuffing and extend overhaul periods. Mobil Pegasus 610 Ultra is approved to MAN M 3271-4, Caterpillar Energy Solutions TR 2105 (CG132, CG170, CG260), MWM TR 0199-99-2105, INNIO Jenbacher TI 1000-1109 (Class B and C fuel gas, Type 2 & 3), and is suitable for Rolls-Royce Solutions Augsburg (former MTU Onsite Energy) Series 400 gas engines without SCR catalyst operating on biogas. Typical properties include a kinematic viscosity of 12.9 mm²/s at 100°C, viscosity index 107, and a base number of 10.3 mg KOH/g.

Applications

  • Gas engines operating on fuel that contains moderate to high levels of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) and high levels of siloxanes which turn to silicon dioxide in the combustion process causing significant deposits and liner wear. Engines operating on fuel containing other corrosive components such as TOHCl (Total Organic Halides as Chloride) Reciprocating compressors operating on natural gas that contains sulphur or halogens High output or naturally aspirated engines operating at or in excess of rated capacity under high temperatures

Performance & benefits

  • High TBN and Reserve AlkalinityControls wear and corrosion when using contaminated gas Protects valve seats and faces on four-cycle engines Controls combustion chamber ash formation and improves spark plug performance
  • Outstanding Anti-wear and Anti-scuff PropertiesLower wear of engine components Reduced scuffing of liners in highly loaded gas engines Provides excellent break-in protection
  • Excellent Oxidation and Chemical StabilityCleaner engines Extended oil drain intervals even with highly contaminated fuels Reduced oil filter costs Excellent resistance to oxidation and nitration
  • Effective Corrosion ResistanceReduces valve guide wear in four-cycle gas engines Protects bearings and internal components
