Manufacturer's description

Mobil Pegasus 610 is a high-performance gas engine oil primarily intended for lubricating modern medium- and high-speed four-cycle engines operating on fuel containing corrosive materials such as hydrogen sulphide or halogens (chlorine, fluorine and similar compounds). These are typically lean-burn, turbocharged engines where increased manifold pressures limit lubricant reaching the valve guide areas, leading to low oil consumption that can accelerate valve guide and valve recession, and increase wear and acid attack on upper cylinder components from combustion-generated acids. Formulated as a 1.0% ash, high-TBN oil with exceptional reserve alkalinity, Mobil Pegasus 610 is designed to offset the negative effects of these corrosive materials, with excellent corrosion protection that prevents corrosive wear in cylinders, valve areas and bearings for longer engine life and lower maintenance costs, plus excellent anti-wear and anti-scuff performance that minimizes piston scuffing, scoring and cylinder/ring wear. It is recommended for engines running on fuel with moderate H2S levels or Total Organic Halides as Chloride (TOHCl), such as landfill or biomass gas, spark-ignited four-stroke engines with very low oil consumption, reciprocating compressors on sulphur- or halogen-containing natural gas, and high-output or naturally aspirated engines operating at or above rated capacity under high temperatures. Built from high-quality mineral base oils and an advanced-technology 1.0% ash additive system, Mobil Pegasus 610 delivers high chemical stability, resistance to oxidation and nitration, and outstanding resistance to valve train wear and deposit/sludge formation. It holds approvals from INNIO Jenbacher TI 1000-1109 (Class C fuel gas, Type 2 & 3), INNIO Waukesha Engine Landfill Gas Applications, MAN M 3271-4, Rolls-Royce Solutions Augsburg (former MTU Onsite Energy) Series 400 on biogas/sewage/landfill gas, and GUASCOR non-natural-gas engine models.

Applications

  • • Gas engines operating on fuel that contains moderate levels of hydrogen sulphide (H2S) • Engines operating on fuel containing other corrosive components such as TOHCl (Total Organic Halides as Chloride), landfill or biomass gases • Spark ignited four-stroke cycle gas engines with very low oil consumption • Reciprocating compressors operating on natural gas that contains sulphur or halogens • High output or naturally aspirated engines operating at or in excess of rated capacity under high temperatures
