Shell Spirax S6 AXME 75W-90
Extended-drain synthetic axle oil for Scania and other OEMs
SAE 75W-90
PETRONAS Tutela Axle 700 EHD SAE 75W-90 is a premium fully synthetic axle fluid that delivers extended drain intervals and total protection, even in the most severe conditions, for today's transmissions, axles, transaxles, differentials and final drives over their entire service life. It is a Total Driveline Lubricant (TDL), recommended for both gearboxes and axles requiring SAE J2360 or API GL-4 / GL-5 / MT-1, and its wide coverage of major manufacturer specifications makes it suitable for virtually all heavy-duty transmissions. The fluid improves fuel economy through optimised transmission efficiency and a wider operating temperature range that reduces energy losses. Exceptional thermal and oxidation stability keeps viscosity constant and prevents deposits and sludge, while enhanced shear stability maintains film strength throughout the oil's life. Excellent anti-wear, extreme pressure (EP) and anti-pitting performance protects gears and bearings under severe loads, and outstanding low-temperature viscosity ensures smooth start-up and comfortable shifting in cold weather. Approved by Daimler, MAN, Meritor, Scania, Volvo and ZF, it meets SAE J2360, API GL-4/GL-5/MT-1 and MIL PRF-2105E, and carries approvals including MAN 341 Type Z2 / 342 Type S1, DTFR 12B140 (MB 235.8), Meritor O76N, Scania STO 1:0 / 2:0A FS, Volvo 97312 and ZF TE-ML 02B, 05A, 07A, 12L, 12N, 16B, 16F, 17B, 19C, 21A. One product for both gearbox and axle reduces the risk of misapplication and simplifies inventory management.
SAE J2360 — registered EP axle oil
The standard that took over the MIL-PRF-2105E military specification. Unlike API GL-5 it requires product registration and axle rig testing, which makes it the harder level to hold.
Gear oil, API GL-4 service level
API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.
Gear oil, API GL-5 service level
API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.
Gear oil, API MT-1 service level
API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.
MIL-PRF-2105E — EP gear and axle oil
The revised issue of the US military EP gear oil specification, which added seal compatibility requirements. Superseded by SAE J2360.
Scania STO 1:0 — transmission and axle oil
Scania's works standard for the oils in its own gearboxes and axles, with synchroniser and hypoid gear protection requirements.
Volvo 97312 — transmission oil
The Volvo number for the oil in one of its own transmissions, used when ordering and in the service schedule.
