Manufacturer's description

Synthetic high quality axle oil. Shell Spirax S6 ADME 75W-90 is a fully synthetic axle oil designed to fulfil the latest Mercedes Benz and other heavy duty axle requirements.

Applications

  • Heavy duty axlesIn particular those working under very heavy load and severe operation conditions as well as non synchronised transmissions where mineral and synthetic gear oils are recommended. This product is particularly designed to meet the latest Mercedes-Benz heavy duty transmission requirements and can be used where this manufacturer recommends an approved lubricant according to the Sheet DTFR 12B140.

Performance & benefits

  • Longer oil drain potentialWorking temperature reduction behaviour ensures long- term protection of the gears and higher oxidation resistance so providing extended drain capability.
  • Longer oil and equipment lifeExcellent protection against gear wear and pitting prevent premature failure. Excellent oxidation resistance and thermal stability extend components and lubricant life.
  • High viscosity indexEnable minimum variation of oil viscosity with changes in ambient and operating temperatures.

Standards & approvals

  • SAE J2360

SAE J2360 — registered EP axle oil

The standard that took over the MIL-PRF-2105E military specification. Unlike API GL-5 it requires product registration and axle rig testing, which makes it the harder level to hold.

  • DTFR 12B140

Daimler Truck DTFR 12B140 (formerly MB 235.8) — hypoid axle oil

The Daimler Truck requirement for hypoid axle oils in trucks and buses. Daimler Truck renumbered the MB-Approval sheets into the DTFR series; MB 235.8 and DTFR 12B140 are the same requirement.Source

  • Volvo 97312

    Volvo 97312 — transmission oil

The Volvo number for the oil in one of its own transmissions, used when ordering and in the service schedule.

  • Scania STO 1:1 G

    Scania STO 1:1 G — gearbox oil

The G variant of the Scania STO 1:1 standard, for the oils in Scania manual truck gearboxes.

  • Scania STO 2:0 A FS

    Scania STO 2:0 A FS — fuel-saving axle oil

Scania's axle oil standard; the FS suffix marks the low-friction level that delivers fuel savings.

  • API GL-4

Gear oil, API GL-4 service level

API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.

  • API GL-5

Gear oil, API GL-5 service level

API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.

  • API MT-1

Gear oil, API MT-1 service level

API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.
