PETRONAS HYDRAULIC ESF 46 belongs to the PETRONAS Hydraulic ESF Series of supreme performance anti-wear hydraulic fluids, specially developed to reduce fuel and energy consumption in modern mobile and industrial hydraulic equipment operating under normal to extremely heavy duty conditions, including the latest high speed and high pressure systems. It is formulated with a unique semi-synthetic combination of selected base oils, a high shear stable viscosity index improver, advanced anti-wear, anti-oxidant, anti-rust and anti-foam additives and friction modifiers. The result is excellent anti-wear protection, highly stable performance across a wider temperature range than standard viscosity index products, up to 5x longer lasting performance versus the ISO 11158 HV TOST minimum, and up to 6% direct fuel saving in mobile equipment or up to 10% energy saving in stationary industrial equipment compared with conventional hydraulic fluids. It is recommended for hydraulic systems that demand good viscosity control over the operating cycle, high speed and high pressure pumps running at high temperatures, systems exposed to rapid temperature variations, outdoor equipment in cold climates with frequent cold starts, high precision systems such as moulding machines, systems with small reservoirs and coolers, sludge and varnish sensitive systems with tight tolerance pumps and servo valves, and applications requiring long life lubricants. Benefits include excellent wet and dry filterability, excellent thermal and oxidation stability, rust and corrosion protection, water separability, fast air release and foam stability, and compatibility with most metals, seals and elastomers. Typical properties: viscosity 46 cSt at 40°C and 8.8 cSt at 100°C, viscosity index 174, flash point 220°C, pour point -33°C, TOST life 5,200 hours. Part 2 of the German hydraulic fluid standard: HLP oils — mineral oils with oxidation, corrosion and antiwear additives. It is the most widely quoted reference in industrial hydraulics.
