Mobilube HD Series are high-performance, heavy-duty gear lubricants formulated from high-performance base oils and an advanced additive system, engineered for automotive applications including heavy-duty axles and final drives where extreme pressures and shock loading are expected. They are recommended by ExxonMobil for applications requiring API GL-5 service. ExxonMobil recommends the series for heavy-duty axles and final drives, passenger cars, on-highway light and heavy-duty trucks and commercial vehicles, off-highway construction, mining, quarrying and agriculture, and other heavy-duty industrial and automotive applications involving hypoid gears under high-speed/shock-load, high-speed/low-torque, or low-speed/high-torque conditions. Key benefits include exceptional thermal stability and resistance to high-temperature oxidation for extended gear and bearing life with minimal deposits and longer seal life; outstanding protection against low-speed/high-torque wear and high-speed scoring for increased load-carrying capability and reduced maintenance costs; excellent rust and corrosion protection; effective low-temperature lubrication for improved startability; and compatibility with typical automotive seals and gaskets to minimise leakage. The series meets or exceeds API GL-5 and is available in SAE 80W-90 (viscosity 14.5 mm²/s at 100°C) and SAE 85W-140 (viscosity 27.5 mm²/s at 100°C) grades, both with a viscosity index of 97 and good shear stability confirmed by the CEC L-45-A-99 (KRL 20h) test.
