Manufacturer's description

Mobil Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90 is a fully synthetic gear lubricant formulated from synthetic base oils and an advanced additive system, designed for use in many railway gearboxes where extreme pressures and shock loading are expected. It delivers excellent load-carrying capability along with excellent thermal and oxidation stability, a high Viscosity Index, an extremely low pour point and strong low-temperature fluidity, and meets the API GL-5 performance level. It is recommended for gearboxes requiring API GL-5 performance, but is not recommended for applications requiring API GL-4 level performance, and is not intended for automatic, manual or semiautomatic transmissions where engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are specified — OEM requirements should be verified for the specific railway gearbox and application. Key benefits include exceptional thermal stability and resistance to high-temperature oxidation for extended gear, bearing and seal life, outstanding protection against low-speed/high-torque wear and high-speed scoring, enhanced frictional properties that help reduce operating costs, outstanding low-temperature fluidity versus mineral oils for easier start-up, and good resistance to foaming that maintains film strength. Mobil Synthetic Gear Oil 75W-90, SAE 75W-90 grade, carries approvals from Voith Turbo, Siemens Traction Gears GmbH (former Flender Rail), SEW-Eurodrive and ZF TE-ML 16F, and meets or exceeds API GL-5.

Applications

  • Recommended by ExxonMobil for use in • Gearboxes requiring API GL-5 performance • Not recommended for applications requiring API GL-4 Level performance • Not intended for automatic, manual, or semiautomatic transmissions for which engine oil or automatic transmission fluids are recommended. Please verify OEM requirements and oil selection criteria for your specific railway gearbox and application.
