Mobil SHC™ Gear Series is a line of exceptional-performance synthetic industrial gear oils designed to protect gears and bearings, extend oil life even under extreme conditions, and enable problem-free equipment operation. Formulated from synthetic base fluids with excellent oxidation, thermal and low-temperature properties, the high viscosity index of these oils minimizes viscosity change across the operating temperature range, while an advanced proprietary additive system provides excellent protection against scuffing and a high level of resistance to micropitting fatigue. The series offers outstanding rust and corrosion protection versus conventional gear oils, even with seawater contamination, shows no tendency to plug fine filters when wet, and provides excellent compatibility with ferrous and non-ferrous metals, elastomers and mineral-based gear oils, easing changeover. Low-traction synthetic base stocks reduce fluid friction and operating temperature, helping improve gear efficiency, while strong EP properties protect under shock loading. Mobil SHC Gear Series is recommended for enclosed industrial gear drives, including steel-on-steel spur, helical and bevel gears, particularly heavily loaded gearboxes with surface-hardened tooth metallurgies subject to micropitting, and applications with extreme temperatures or severe corrosion — such as gearboxes in the paper, steel, oil, textile, lumber and cement industries, and plastic extruder gearboxes. Selected grades (ISO VG 150-1000) hold Flender and SEW-Eurodrive approvals, ISO VG 150-680 are approved to GE's D50E35 off-highway wheel gearbox specification, and the series meets AGMA 9005-F16, DIN 51517-3 and ISO 12925-1 (L-CKD, L-CTPR) requirements.
