Manufacturer's description

PETRONAS Syntium 7000 Hybrid 0W-20 is a fully synthetic lubricant formulated with °CoolTech+™, at the cutting edge of PETRONAS fluid technology. It effectively reduces friction between moving parts to lower heat generation, offering enhanced wear protection and optimum engine efficiency for the full drain interval, delivering optimal performance with lower fuel consumption and emissions. Constantly switching between the internal combustion engine and electrical power unit places greater stress on a hybrid car's engine, with frequent stop-start cycles increasing friction, heat, wear and the risk of engine failure — hybrid vehicles therefore need dedicated lubricants with high wear protection. PETRONAS Syntium 7000 Hybrid 0W-20 is dedicated to and suitable for petrol-electric hybrid vehicles. It is formulated to protect against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) in turbocharged direct-injection gasoline vehicles and meets the latest API SP specification. Benefits include ultimate heat management to protect the engine and provide optimum lubrication at extremely low temperatures, ultimate protection against bearing wear under high load, ultimate lubrication capability against premature valvetrain wear, ultimate retention of optimum lubricant viscosity with protection against timing chain elongation, ultimate resistance to engine sludge formation, and ultimate protection against LSPI events to avoid catastrophic engine failure. The oil meets the API SP and ILSAC GF-6A specifications, and carries GM Dexos1 Gen2 approval, plus FCA performance levels 955535-CR1 and FCA MS 6395. Typical physical characteristics include a density of 0.8453 g/cm³ at 15°C, a kinematic viscosity of 8.437 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 175, a flash point of 224°C, a TBN of 8.0 mgKOH/g, CCS of 4501 mPa·s at -35°C and a pour point of -39°C.

Applications

  • Our technology effectively reduces friction between moving parts to reduce the heat generated, offering enhanced wear protection and optimum engine efficiency for the full drain interval and delivering optimal performance with lower fuel consumption and emissions. Constantly switching between internal combustion engine (ICE) and electrical power unit places greater stresses and demands on the engine of a hybrid car. If an engine is constantly stopping and starting in this way, the friction between the engine parts increases, which causes excessive heat generation that leads to higher fuel consumption and emissions, increased wear and risk of engine failure. Hybrid vehicles therefore require dedicated lubricants with high wear protection features. PETRONAS Syntium 7000 Hybrid 0W-20 is a dedicated and suitable for petrol-electric hybrid vehicle. It is formulated to provide protection against low-speed pre-ignition (LSPI) for turbo charged direct injection gasoline powered vehicles and meets the latest API SP specification. Thanks to our experience in Motorsports, powering the most efficient hybrid engine, we developed PETRONAS Syntium, a complete range of lubricants, to help drivers to maximize every drop of energy.

Performance & benefits

  • PETRONAS Syntium 7000 Hybrid 0W-20 is engineered with °CoolTech+™ technology to maximize the efficiency and power output of the most modern engines through
  • Ultimate heat management capability to protect the engine from damaging heat and provide optimum lubrication at extremely low temperatures, to maximize engine efficiency and power output – reducing fuel consumption and emissions
  • Ultimate protection against bearing wear, especially under high load conditions that could lead to power loss and engine failure - ensuring maximum performance in hybrid vehicles
  • Ultimate lube capability to protect against premature wear in the valvetrain, providing vital defense against engine damage that would lead to deterioration in engine performance and increase in emissions
  • Ultimate capacity to retain optimum lubricant viscosity, with enhanced protection against timing chain elongation preventing serious engine failure
  • Ultimate resistance to engine sludge formation caused by oil degradation. Effectively controls the formation of sludge throughout the engine, ensuring every part of the engine performs at its maximum efficiency, maximizing power conversion and lowering emissions
  • Ultimate protection against LSPI events, to protect critical engine parts and avoid catastrophic engine failures

Standards & approvals

  • API SP

Petrol engine oil, API SP performance level
