Manufacturer's description

PETRONAS Syntium 5000 CP 5W-30 is a fully synthetic lubricant formulated for engines fitted with after-treatment equipment. The formulation maximizes protection of the after-treatment equipment to assure its longest duration, and is developed with Low SAPS technology (low content of sulphur, phosphorus and sulphated ash) suited to a wide range of petrol and diesel engines, including turbocharged and supercharged units operating under demanding conditions, and biofuel-running vehicles. It provides exceptional control of oxidation at high temperature to assure lubrication stability and prevent vehicle breakdowns, outstanding control of deposits at high temperature to improve drivability and engine performance, resistance to evaporation loss at high temperature to stop premature thermal degradation, excellent protection of after-treatment exhaust systems with characteristics that exceed the compatibility requirements of PSA group diesel after-treatment systems, superior fuel economy, extended drain intervals up to the maximum specified by manufacturers, and instant lubrication at start-up. The oil meets the API SN and ACEA C2 specifications and carries PSA B71 2290 and Renault RN0700 approvals. Typical physical characteristics include a density of 0.853 g/cm³ at 15°C, a viscosity of 10.2 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 158, a TBN of 7.4 mgKOH/g, a flash point of 200°C and a pour point below -36°C.

Standards & approvals

  • SAE 5W-30

    SAE 5W-30 viscosity grade

A viscosity grade, not a performance level.

  • API SN

Petrol engine oil, API SN performance level

API's service category for spark-ignition engines. Current category.Source

  • API CF

Diesel engine oil, API CF performance level

API's service category for indirect-injection diesel engines, tolerant of higher-sulphur fuel. An earlier category in the API service classification, written for the engines of its era; it still appears on datasheets alongside the current categories.Source

  • ACEA C2

    ACEA C2 oil sequence

    ACEA's sequence for catalyst-compatible, low-SAPS engines.Source

  • PSA B71 2290

    PSA B71 2290 — engine oil

The PSA (Peugeot–Citroën, today Stellantis) engine oil approval for its own passenger cars, with particulate filter compatibility and wear protection requirements.

  • RENAULT RN0700

    Renault RN0700 — passenger-car engine oil

Renault's engine oil approval for petrol cars and for diesel engines without a particulate filter.
