Manufacturer's description

Advanced biodegradable, HEES-type synthetic hydraulic fluid. Readily biodegradable with low ecotoxicity, particularly suitable for use in environmentally sensitive areas where eco-label compliance is required, including US waters. The fully synthetic esters, blended with ashless additives, give this fluid an excellent blend of lubrication performance and environmental acceptability.

Applications

  • Meets the requirements of EU Ecolabel certificate number NL/027/019
  • Meets the requirements of the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP)
  • FM ApprovedFor the full list of equipment approvals and recommendations, please consult your local Shell technical helpdesk or the OEM approval website. Low ecotoxicity — classified as "not harmful" to bacteria, algae, freshwater and marine invertebrates, and fish when tested as water-accommodated fractions (WAFs) according to OECD and EPA test guidelines. Compatibility and miscibility
  • Fluid compatibilityShell PANOLIN fluids are miscible with mineral oils. However, to ensure that the environmental properties and performance of Shell PANOLIN fluids are maintained, the system should be drained and flushed thoroughly when changing fluids.
  • Compatible with seal materials and paintsCompatible with fluoroelastomers (FPM/FKM) such as Viton. Other seal materials and system components, such as paints, may be adversely affected, and advice should be sought from the respective manufacturers.
  • Meets the USDA BioPreferred programme
  • FM Approved

Standards & approvals

  • ISO 15380 HEES

Biodegradable hydraulic fluid HEES — ISO 15380

The international standard for biodegradable hydraulic fluids; class HEES is the synthetic ester type, the most used where a leak would reach water or soil.

  • Swedish Standard SS 15 54 34 SP

SS 15 54 34 — environmental requirements for hydraulic fluids (Sweden)

The Swedish standard requiring high biodegradability, low aquatic toxicity, and that the finished fluid not be classified as environmentally hazardous. It is required near groundwater and drinking water sources; verified products appear on the "SP list".

  • ISO 12922 (2012) HFDU

    ISO 12922 HFDU — fire-resistant hydraulic fluid

The international standard for fire-resistant hydraulic fluids; class HFDU covers water-free synthetic fluids on an ester or polyglycol base, used where a leak could ignite.
