Mobilgard M20 Series is a premium, extra high performance 20 TBN engine oil series designed for residual, distillate and LNG-fuelled medium-speed diesel engine applications in the marine and stationary power industries. Extending the ExxonMobil Mobilgard M Series trunk piston engine oils, it is specifically formulated to support the transition to lower sulphur fuels, using high-performance additive detergent technology for outstanding residual fuel-lube compatibility and enhanced engine cleanliness, especially in crankcase, camshaft, ring belt and piston undercrown areas, together with excellent high-temperature oxidation and thermal stability, low volatility and high load-carrying and corrosion protection. It is available in SAE 30 (Mobilgard M320) and SAE 40 (Mobilgard M420) grades. It suits most medium-speed trunk piston engine applications, including main propulsion and auxiliary engines on deep-sea vessels, main propulsion engines on coastal and river ships, and stationary power plants, and was developed with ExxonMobil's patented DAC (Detecting Asphaltene Contamination) Test. Its low-BN formulation is specifically designed for engines using 0.50% and 0.10% sulphur fuels and LNG, and it is especially beneficial in engines with low crankcase oil consumption or low cylinder liner temperatures. Mobilgard M20 Series carries approvals from Everllence (formerly MAN Energy Solutions) 4-stroke medium speed engines for alternating HFO/LNG and HFO operation. Benefits include reduced deposits in piston undercrown and ring belt areas, improved anti-wear properties, advanced detergency/dispersancy, outstanding rust and corrosion protection, high residual fuel compatibility, low lubricant consumption, and excellent TBN reserve and retention.

Applications

• Mobilgard M20 Series oils can be used in most medium-speed trunk piston engine applications. They are recommended for use in main propulsion and auxiliary engines on deep-sea vessels; in main propulsion engines on coastal and river ships; and in stationary power plants. This new Series of oils is the result of an extensive research and development program, incorporating ExxonMobil's patented DAC (Detecting Aspahltene Contamination) Test. Mobilgard M20 Series is specifically formulated for use in medium speed engines using 0.50% and 0.10% sulphur fuels and liquefied natural gas (LNG) due to its low BN formulation. They are recommended for use in the latest model medium speed diesel engines and are especially beneficial in engines having low crankcase oil consumption or operating with low cylinder liner temperatures.
