Advanced synthetic, zinc-based hydraulic oil using Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) technology. Shell Tellus S4 VE hydraulic fluids are based on Gas-to-Liquid (GTL) technology and are designed for a wide range of stationary and mobile applications, with a very long oil life, a wide operating temperature window, impactful energy efficiency and robust equipment protection. Shell Tellus S4 VE allows customers to achieve potential cost savings through longer equipment life and lower maintenance costs.
Applications
Mobile hydraulic systemsShell Tellus S4 VE, with its wide operating window, long oil drain intervals, superior system operating characteristics and many OEM approvals, is designed to be particularly suitable for mobile hydraulic systems, such as construction and mining machinery.
Industrial hydraulic systemsShell Tellus S4 VE, with its energy efficiency benefits and long oil life, is designed to be particularly suitable for stationary industrial hydraulic systems with a high intensity of hydraulic power usage, such as injection moulding and high-pressure metal pressing operations.
Wind turbinesWind turbine systems are exposed to harsh conditions, such as extremely cold climates and humid regions, including offshore locations. Shell Tellus S4 VE, with its high-performance additives in a GTL base oil, ensures a long service life, while its high viscosity index delivers responsive performance even under cold start conditions.
Marine hydraulic systemsShell Tellus S4 VE is recommended for marine applications where ISO HV category hydraulic fluids are recommended. Specifications, approvals and recommendations

CompatibilityShell Tellus S4 VE fluids are suitable for use with most hydraulic pumps.
Fluid compatibilityShell Tellus S4 VE fluids are compatible with most other mineral and synthetic hydraulic fluids. However, mineral and synthetic hydraulic fluids must not be mixed with other fluid types (for example environmentally acceptable or fire-resistant fluids).
Compatible with seal materialsShell Tellus S4 VE fluids are compatible with the seal materials specified for use with mineral and synthetic oils.

Bosch Rexroth Fluid Rating RDE 90245
Bosch Rexroth RDE 90245 — hydraulic fluid rating list
Bosch Rexroth's list of hydraulic fluids rated for use in its own pumps and motors. A fluid is listed after passing wear testing on axial piston pumps.
Parker Denison HF0/HF1/HF2
Parker Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2
The three Denison hydraulic fluid levels quoted together. An oil covering all three passes the vane pump and piston pump tests alike, including in the presence of water.
