Shell Tellus S2 V are high-performance hydraulic fluids that use Shell's unique patented technology to deliver excellent viscosity control under demanding mechanical stress conditions and across a wide temperature range. They provide outstanding protection and operating performance in most mobile equipment, as well as in other applications subject to a wide range of ambient or operating temperatures.
Applications
Mobile / exterior hydraulic applicationsCan be used in hydraulic and power transmission systems subject to wide temperature variations. The high viscosity index of Shell Tellus S2 V delivers outstanding performance from cold start to full-load operation under arduous conditions.
Precision hydraulic systems require excellent fluid viscosity control throughout the operating cycle. Shell Tellus S2 V offers greater temperature-viscosity stability compared with ISO HM fluids, which — together with air release and anti-foam performance — all contribute to maintaining and increasing hydraulic system efficiency and improving the performance of these systems. For severe operating conditions, longer service life and increased efficiency, the Shell Tellus "S3" and "S4" ranges offer additional benefits and performance.
* The dielectric strength value applies only at the "point of manufacture", at an authorised Shell production facility. As with all hydraulic fluids, contamination with water or particles leads to a reduction in dielectric strength.

Performance & benefits
Long service life – reduced maintenance: Shell Tellus S2 V fluids help extend equipment maintenance intervals through their resistance to thermal and chemical breakdown. This minimises deposit formation and delivers excellent performance in the industry-standard ASTM D943 TOST (Turbine Oil Stability Test), providing better system reliability and cleanliness. Shell Tellus S2 V fluids also have good stability in the presence of moisture, which ensures a long fluid life and reduces the risk of corrosion and rusting, particularly in humid environments. The high shear stability of the viscosity modifiers helps minimise property variation throughout the fluid drain interval
Excellent wear protection: Zinc-based anti-wear additives are incorporated to ensure proven effectiveness under all operating conditions, including low-load and heavy-load conditions. Outstanding performance in a series of piston and vane pump tests, including the Denison T6C test (dry and wet versions) and Vickers 35VQ25, demonstrates how Shell Tellus S2 V fluids can help system components last longer
Maintaining system efficiency: The wide operating temperature range of Shell Tellus S2 V allows mobile equipment to operate efficiently from cold start through to normal operating conditions. Superior cleanliness characteristics, excellent filterability and high water separation performance. Tellus S2 V 32
Standards & approvals
Parker Denison HF0/HF1/HF2
Parker Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2
The three Denison hydraulic fluid levels quoted together. An oil covering all three passes the vane pump and piston pump tests alike, including in the presence of water.
Fives Cincinnati P-68 (ISO 32)
Fives Cincinnati P-68 — ISO VG 32 hydraulic oil
An approval number from the Fives Cincinnati list of fluids for use in its own machine tools. Approved hydraulic fluids must pass its own wear, filterability and water separation tests, beyond the DIN 51524-2 level.

Eaton Vickers Brochure 694 — fluid requirements
The Vickers brochure that set the classic requirements for hydraulic oils in vane and piston pumps: cleanliness, antiwear performance and thermal stability.
Swedish Standard SS 15 54 34 AM
SS 15 54 34 — environmental requirements for hydraulic fluids (Sweden)
The Swedish standard requiring high biodegradability, low aquatic toxicity, and that the finished fluid not be classified as environmentally hazardous. It is required near groundwater and drinking water sources; verified products appear on the "SP list".
ISO 11158 (fluide HV)
Hydraulic oil, type H (fluide HV) — ISO 11158
Class HV of ISO 11158: an antiwear hydraulic oil with a high viscosity index, for systems exposed to wide temperature swings.
ASTM 6158-05 (fluide HV)
ASTM D6158, type HV — high-viscosity-index hydraulic oil
The HV class of ASTM D6158: an antiwear hydraulic oil with a high viscosity index that holds its fluidity across a wide temperature range — typical for equipment working outdoors.
GB 111181-1-94 (fluide HV)
GB 11118.1-94, type HV — hydraulic oil (China)
The 1994 issue of the Chinese hydraulic fluid standard, class HV — an antiwear oil with a high viscosity index.
Bosch Rexroth RD 90220-01 (2011)
Bosch Rexroth RD 90220 — mineral hydraulic fluids
Bosch Rexroth's works standard for mineral hydraulic fluids in its own equipment: filterability, cleanliness and antiwear requirements beyond DIN 51524.
ISO 32-68
ISO 3448 — viscosity grades VG 32 to VG 68
ISO 3448 viscosity grades rather than a performance norm: the number gives kinematic viscosity in mm²/s at 40 °C. The product is supplied in grades VG 32 through VG 68.
