Manufacturer's description

The Mobil SHC 500 Series comprises exceptional performance hydraulic oils formulated from synthesised, wax-free hydrocarbon base fluids combined with a carefully engineered, super-stabilised additive system. They are exceptionally high-quality, wide-temperature, shear-stable hydraulic oils with controlled low-temperature pumpability and maximised anti-wear protection for high-pressure vane, piston and gear pumps, with very high viscosity indexes giving excellent performance at both low and high temperatures. The series exhibits outstanding shear stability for extended use in high-pressure, high-temperature operating environments without loss of critical lubrication characteristics, helping deliver long oil and filter life and optimum equipment protection that reduces maintenance and disposal costs. Developed with major OEMs for severe hydraulic systems using high-pressure, high-output pumps, close-clearance servo-valves and high-accuracy numerically controlled (NC) machine tools, the oils suit systems prone to deposit build-up, multi-metal component designs, cold start-up or very high operating temperatures, systems with unavoidable small amounts of water, and applications requiring high load-carrying capability and thin-film corrosion protection. The Mobil SHC 500 Series carries Denison HF-0, HF-1 and HF-2 approvals across its grades. It spans four ISO viscosity grades — 524 (ISO 32), 525 (ISO 46), 526 (ISO 68) and 527 (ISO 100) — with viscosity indices from 144 to 160, pour points down to -56°C, and flash points from 234°C to 243°C.

Applications

  • • Hydraulic systems prone to deposit build-up such as sophisticated Numerically Controlled (NC) machines, particularly where close clearance servo-valves are used • Systems employing multi-metal component designs • High pressure vane, piston and gear pumps • Systems where cold start-up and / or very high operating temperatures are typical • Where small amounts of water are unavoidable • In systems containing gears and bearings • Systems requiring a high degree of load-carrying capability and anti-wear protection • Applications where thin oil-film corrosion protection is an asset such as in systems containing moisture

Performance & benefits

  • Design-Specific Synthetic Base stock Exceptional Anti-wearCleaner system and reduced close-tolerance valve sticking compared to conventional products Helps improve filterability Helps reduce wear of components Helps protect systems using various metallurgy
