Cat HYDO Advanced 20 complements the Cat HYDO Advanced 10 and 30 hydraulic oils, filling the ISO 68 (SAE 20) viscosity grade in the range. It combines premium additives with specially selected, controlled high-quality base oil to provide extended drain intervals and extra protection to hydraulic system components, and Caterpillar describes it as a significant performance breakthrough in hydraulic oil technology, developed through severe qualification testing in the field and laboratory over thousands of hours. Typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include a viscosity of 68 cSt at 40°C and 9 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 110, an FZG gear test result of 12 (ASTM D5182), a pour point of -33°C, zinc content of 0.094% by weight (ASTM D4951), copper strip corrosion of 3 (ASTM D130), a pass on rust protection (ASTM D665 A and B), and oxidation stability of more than 5,000 hours (ASTM D943). Within the Cat HYDO Advanced family, this ISO 68 grade sits between the lighter Cat HYDO Advanced 10 and the heavier Cat HYDO Advanced 30, giving Cat dealers and end users a range of extended-drain hydraulic oils to match different machines and ambient conditions.
