Waxrex 1270 is a lower-range melting point, semi-refined paraffin wax derived from petroleum via a carefully controlled refining process designed to provide low colour and low oil content. It meets the requirements for many industrial wax applications and also meets the requirements of RAL for candle manufacture. Waxrex 1270 is a translucent crystalline material in the solid state and is water-white in colour and low in viscosity when molten, composed mainly of normal, straight-chain paraffin hydrocarbons that impart water repellency and resistance to most acids and alkalis. It contains an oxidation inhibitor to enhance its natural resistance to oxidation, and is produced and controlled according to the ExxonMobil Product Quality Management System, EN ISO 9000 or equivalent standard. Waxrex 1270 is primarily used as a component in the manufacture of candles, subject to applicable laws and regulations in each jurisdiction. Typical properties include a melting point of 52.0-57.0°C (ASTM D87), oil content up to 2.5 wt% (ASTM D721), ASTM Saybolt colour of at least +25 (ASTM D6045), needle penetration up to 55 (0.1 mm, ASTM D1321 at 25°C), wax odour up to 1 (ASTM D1833), and a flash point (Cleveland Open Cup, ASTM D92) of at least 200°C.
