Prowax 302 is a low-range melting point product in the Prowax line of petroleum slack and scale waxes. It is a translucent crystalline material in the solid state and a water white-to-straw yellow, clear liquid when molten, derived from petroleum via a carefully controlled refining process. Prowax 302 is comprised of a mixture of straight-chain normal paraffin and branched iso-paraffin hydrocarbons, and is produced and controlled according to the ExxonMobil Product Quality Management System, EN ISO 9000 or equivalent standard. Typical applications, subject to applicable laws and regulations in each jurisdiction, include candles, wax emulsions and wax blends. Typical properties include a melting point of 45.0-49.0°C (ASTM D87), kinematic viscosity of 2.6-3.3 mm²/s at 100°C, oil content up to 5.0 wt% (ASTM D721), Saybolt colour of at least +20 (ASTM D6045), and a flash point (Cleveland Open Cup, ASTM D92) of at least 180°C.
