Parvan 1470 is a mid-range melting point product in the Parvan line of fully refined paraffin waxes, with a typical melting point of 62.8-65.0°C (ASTM D87). Parvan waxes meet the requirements of most industrial wax applications and meet applicable FDA requirements for food, health and cosmetic-related uses. Parvan 1470 is a translucent crystalline solid and a water-white, low-viscosity, clear liquid when molten, derived from petroleum via a carefully controlled refining process and comprised primarily of straight-chain normal paraffin hydrocarbons, which impart excellent gloss and water-repellent properties. Resistance to most acids and alkalis is good, and the low oil content (max 0.7 wt%, ASTM D721) ensures that Parvan 1470 does not stain coated materials. It contains an FDA-approved oxidation inhibitor to enhance its natural resistance to oxidation, and Parvan waxes are biodegradable under composting conditions (ASTM D6400-12 using ASTM D5338-11). Typical applications include candles, wax blends and emulsions, paper converting, paper cup and package coatings, cosmetic formulations, polishes and paste waxes, PVC lubricants, adhesives, crayons, and sun-checking waxes for rubber and tires, subject to applicable laws and regulations in each jurisdiction. Parvan 1470 meets or exceeds FDA 21 CFR 178.3710 and the ASTM biodegradability standard referenced above. Typical properties: ASTM Saybolt D156 colour ≥26, wax odour ≤1 (ASTM D1833), and flash point (Cleveland Open Cup, ASTM D92) ≥210°C.
