Manufacturer's description
Mobilcut is ExxonMobil's trademark for a line of high-performance, water-miscible metal-removal fluids formulated with leading-edge base oils, additives and emulsifiers. Non-chlorinated and free of formaldehyde-release agents, the range works across a variety of hard and soft water qualities, offering low foam potential and long-term corrosion protection for machines and components. Supplied as a concentrate for mixing with water at the point of use, the series is designed for low maintenance, long service life and stable performance in modern machine shops. Mobilcut 140 BF is a long-life, boron-free, water-soluble micro-emulsion fluid ideal for grinding and general machining in the modern machine shop, including milling, turning, sawing, boring, drilling and reaming of cast iron and a wide variety of other materials in moderate-to-heavy-duty operations. It provides good emulsion stability and durability, helping increase tool life and surface finish even in difficult machining, and remains stable from very soft water (5°dH) up to very hard water (60°dH), with a typical mineral oil content of 30% and a refractometer factor of around 1.3. Recommended working concentrations range from 5-7% for cylindrical and surface grinding to 8-12% for difficult-to-machine carbon alloy steels. Key benefits include form-stable emulsions, long-term inherent stability, low foaming, resistance to sticky residue formation, high corrosion protection, good separability from fines, neutral odour, and compatibility with Mobil Vactra Oil Numbered Series slideway lubricants for easy tramp-oil separation.
Applications
- Mobilcut 140 BF: Grinding and machining of cast iron and for a wide variety of materials in moderate to heavy duty operations such as milling, turning, sawing, boring, drilling and reaming where the lubricity of a soluble oil is desired. Fluid type is micro emulsion. Mineral oil content is typically 30%. Water hardness range is from 5 to 30 °dH. Its typical refractometer factor is 1.3, due to production tolerances this value might vary slightly. Recommended concentrations for typical operations: Cylindrical & Surface grinding: 5-7% Low alloy steels - milling, turning: 6-8% Carbon alloy steels, difficult machining: 8-12% Aluminum machining: 8-10%
