Manufacturer's description
Cat Transmission & Drive Train Oil TMS is described on its safety data sheet as base oil and additives, intended for use as a manual transmission fluid. It reduces wear on transmission gears for longer component life, improves the performance and efficiency of transmissions in cold weather (especially on machines with electronic controls), and ensures long life and excellent performance for gears, bearings and friction disc material. Because it can be used in multiple compartments with drain intervals extended over multiple seasons, it helps simplify maintenance with fewer oils and fewer changes. Typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include an API gravity of 29.2 (ASTM D287), a viscosity of 107 cSt at 40°C and 14.2 cSt at 100°C (ASTM D445), a viscosity index of 134 (ASTM D2270), and a TBN of 8.4 (ASTM D2896).
