CAT Transmission and Drive Train Oil (TDTO) 50
TO-4 oil for power shift transmissions, final drives and wet brakes, Allison C-4
Caterpillar
Cat TDTO (Transmission and Drive Train Oil) is developed, tested and approved by Caterpillar to the same standards as Genuine Cat Parts. It is the preferred lubricant for Cat power shift transmissions, and most final drives and wet brake compartments, used as standard factory-fill for Cat machine compartments where TO-4 specification oils are recommended, and suitable for other manufacturers' machines that call for TO-4 or TO-4M oils. The oil prolongs clutch disc life by up to 45% and ensures long life and excellent performance for gears, bearings and friction disc material. While the TO-4 specification defines a minimum performance standard, Cat TDTO is required to pass five additional Caterpillar tests, backed by thousands of hours of field experience. This SAE 10W grade meets Caterpillar TO-4 and Allison C-4 test requirements. Typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include an API gravity of 27.9 (ASTM D287), a cold-cranking viscosity of 6,840 cP at -25°C (ASTM D5293), a viscosity of 42.0 cSt at 40°C and 6.3 cSt at 100°C (ASTM D445), a viscosity index of 97 (ASTM D2270), and a TBN of 7.9 (ASTM D2896).
