EP mineral oil for enclosed industrial gears
ISO VG 150
PETRONAS Gear MEP 150 is an extreme-pressure industrial gear oil recommended for various types of enclosed industrial gears (spur, helical, bevel and planetary) with circulation or splash lubrication systems operating at bulk oil temperatures up to 110°C. It is suitable for gear drives subjected to heavy loads and drives sensitive to sludge formation, as well as non-gear applications such as shaft couplings and heavily loaded plain bearings operating at slow speeds. Formulated at ISO VG 150, the oil provides high load-carrying capacity, good water separability, rust and corrosion protection, foam control and thermal stability, helping to protect gear teeth and bearings while extending component life and drain intervals. Grade 150 has a kinematic viscosity of 150 cSt at 40°C and 14.4 cSt at 100°C, a viscosity index of 93, a flash point of 240°C and a pour point of -27°C. PETRONAS Gear MEP Series meets AGMA 9005-F16 AS, David Brown S1.53.101, DIN 51517 Part III, Fives Cincinnati Machine Gear, GM LS 2 EP Gear Oil, ISO 12925-1 CKC/CKD and U.S. Steel 224.
AGMA 9005-F16, synthetic grade (AS)
The synthetic oil class within AGMA 9005-F16, for enclosed gear drives running at temperature extremes or needing extended drain intervals, where a mineral EP oil will not do.
David Brown S1.53.101 level — EP gear oil
David Brown's specification for extreme-pressure gear oils in open and enclosed drives under heavy and shock loading. It overlaps DIN 51517-3 CLP and U.S. Steel 224.
Industrial gear oil Part III — DIN 51517
Part 3 of the German lubricating oil standard: class CLP, gear oils with extreme-pressure additives. It requires an FZG pass plus corrosion and ageing protection.

GM's specification for extreme-pressure gear oils in its own equipment.
Industrial gear lubricant CKC/CKD — ISO 12925
The two gear oil classes quoted together: CKC for moderate duty, CKD for the same loads at higher temperatures. An oil covering both can serve either case.
U.S. Steel 224 — non-leaded EP gear oil
The classic specification for non-leaded extreme-pressure gear oils in the steel industry, now carried by AIST under the same number 224.
