Manufacturer's description
ExxonMobil supplies marine distillate fuels around the world through its dedicated ExxonMobil Marine Distillate Fuel (EMMF) division, covering both fuels produced by ExxonMobil and those acquired for resale by EMMF from other sources. All fuels meet EMMF's own specifications, which are reviewed regularly to incorporate the latest equipment and industry requirements, including standards set by ASTM and ISO. The range covers Marine Gas Oil (MGO) — DMX, DMA and DMZ grades, the highest-quality distillates normally supplied for marine use via dedicated pipelines or barges — and Marine Diesel Oil (MDO), equivalent to ISO grade DMB, a distillate fuel that may appear black in colour because it is delivered through pipelines or barges also used for residual (black) fuels such as RMFO. Typical specification limits vary by grade: viscosity at 40°C ranges from 1.4-2.0 mm²/s (min) to 11.0 mm²/s (max, DMB), density up to 890 kg/m³ (DMA/DMZ/DMB), cetane index from 35 (DMB) to 45 (DMX) minimum, sulphur content from 1.00% (DMX) to 2.00% (DMB) maximum, and flash point of 43°C (DMX) or 60°C (DMA/DMZ/DMB) minimum, with additional limits on water, ash, oxidation stability and lubricity.
