Cat NGEO Special Application is an engine oil for Cat natural gas engines operating in biogas, landfill, coal mine and wellhead applications. It is specifically designed to limit carbon formation on pistons, reduce wear on internal components, and neutralize severe acids in these demanding gas environments, so engines can maintain the durability expected of the Cat brand. Following Caterpillar guidelines, it extends oil drain intervals compared with typical gas engine oils, significantly increases engine cleanliness and reduces deposits, helps reduce wear and scuffing of rings, liners, bearings and other engine components, and helps improve spark plug performance while protecting valve seats and faces — together lowering oil consumption and waste, reducing labor costs, and increasing engine performance and component life. It is formulated with leading additive technology and an optimal base stock for severe gas applications including biogas, digester, landfill, coal mine methane, wellhead and sour gas, as well as gas engines running fuel containing corrosive materials such as Total Organic Halides (fluoride and chloride) and hydrogen sulfide (H2S). Typical characteristics: SAE 40, flash point 268°C, pour point -21°C, density 0.88 kg/l @ 15.6°C, sulfated ash 0.6% wt., TBN 5.3, kinematic viscosity 137.5 cSt at 40°C and 15 cSt at 100°C, viscosity index 110.
