Cat NGEO Ultra 40 is designed to provide advanced lubrication in high-horsepower gaseous-fueled engines requiring low-ash oil. It was tested and approved by Caterpillar to meet the same standards as Genuine Cat Parts, and its improved oil life was demonstrated through the high-severity 300-hour Caterpillar G3406 engine test, which showed improved oxidation stability and nitration stability. It reduces piston and cylinder wear (anti-oxidant and anti-nitration properties prevent deposit buildup that causes scuffing, scoring and wear), increases spark plug and valve life through excellent detergent and dispersant additives, and provides corrosion protection via acid neutralizers. It is compatible with exhaust-catalyst applications requiring low-phosphorous oil and with lean-burn engines requiring low-ash oil, and may be used in engines running high-sulfur gas provided shorter drain intervals are employed. When used in recommended engines with Cat Filters and S•O•S Service oil analysis, Cat NGEO Ultra 40 can significantly extend oil change intervals compared with Cat NGEO EL350. Typical characteristics: SAE 40, API gravity 35, specific gravity 0.848, flash point 247°C, pour point -21°C, kinematic viscosity 125 cSt at 40°C and 13.0 cSt at 100°C, viscosity index 95 min, TBN 6.0, sulfated ash 0.54% wt., phosphorous 0.030% wt. and calcium 0.130% wt.
