Cat NGEO EL350 SAE 40 is an engine oil for natural gas applications and other engines requiring low-ash oil, used as the standard factory-fill for Cat natural gas engines. It is developed, tested and approved by Caterpillar to meet the same standards as Genuine Cat Parts, providing superior lubrication in high-horsepower gaseous-fueled engines, and is compatible with exhaust-catalyst applications requiring low-phosphorus oil and with lean-burn engines requiring low-ash oil. It gives optimum engine and oil life with low-sulfur gaseous fuels (below 0.43 mg hydrogen sulfide per mega Joule) and may be used with high-sulfur gas provided shorter drain intervals are followed. Anti-oxidation and anti-nitration properties reduce piston and cylinder wear by preventing deposit buildup, while excellent detergent and dispersant additives increase spark plug and valve life, and acid neutralizers provide corrosion protection. When used in recommended engines (3400, 3500, 3600 series) with Cat Filters and S•O•S Services, Cat NGEO EL350 can extend oil change intervals by 60 to 160% compared with standard NGEO. Typical characteristics: SAE 40, API gravity 29.3, specific gravity 0.882, flash point 247°C, pour point -21°C, kinematic viscosity 125 cSt at 40°C and 13 cSt at 100°C, viscosity index 97, sulfated ash 0.54% wt., TBN 6.2, phosphorus 0.03% wt. and calcium 0.13% wt.
