Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 200 Series are fully synthetic, superior-performance lubricants specifically designed for refrigeration compressors and heat pumps. Formulated from wax-free, synthesized hydrocarbon polyalphaolefin (PAO) fluids, they offer outstanding resistance to thermal and oxidative degradation, with naturally high shear-stable viscosity index and low-temperature fluidity that outperform many conventional mineral oils. Their low solubility and miscibility with common refrigerants gives higher film thickness under pressure, helping to reduce shaft seal leakage, while their stability and low volatility reduce the light-end stripping seen with mineral oils. Recommended for refrigeration compressors operating at very high temperatures and systems with very low evaporator temperatures, the series suits compressor systems using ammonia and carbon dioxide, with low miscibility making it particularly suited to CO2 screw compressors; it is compatible with most common refrigerants except sulphur dioxide. Typical applications include commercial, industrial, heat pump and marine refrigeration systems, for both reciprocating and rotary compressor designs. The series is fully miscible with conventional mineral refrigeration oils, though mixing will reduce the synthetic product's outstanding performance. Mobil Gargoyle Arctic SHC 224, 228, 230 and 234 are NSF H1 registered and meet FDA 21 CFR 178.3570, and the series delivers high oil film thickness for extended compressor life and better shaft sealing, excellent thermal/oxidative/chemical stability for long oil life, low volatility for consistent viscosity, high viscosity index with wax-free composition for excellent low-temperature fluidity, low traction coefficient for improved efficiency, and strong seal compatibility.
