Manufacturer's description

Mobil Almo 500 Series lubricants are premium-quality, high-performance oils primarily intended for lubricating pneumatically operated rock drills in underground and surface mining operations. Formulated from high-quality base stocks and additives, they deliver excellent chemical stability and good protection against wear and corrosion, with an optimum balance of adhesiveness and emulsifiability that lets them pick up moisture carried in the air stream, reducing the negative effects of water on wear and corrosion without forming gummy deposits that could cause sluggish valve action. Available across ISO VG 32, 46, 220 and 320 grades, Mobil Almo 500 Series oils maintain preferential metal-wetting properties even in the presence of water, sustaining continuous oil films that, combined with high extreme-pressure characteristics, provide excellent lubrication and long equipment life. Their high viscosity index and low pour points ensure good lubrication at the low temperatures caused by air expansion, guarding against icing stoppages, while still providing adequate films on drill parts operating at high temperatures — with extremely low oil-fog generation. Recommended applications include pneumatically operated rock drills in underground and surface mining, drills and jack hammers in highway construction and building operations, rock drills in quarrying, and percussion and rotary air-operated tools in general industrial use, with viscosity grades selectable for year-round use across extreme seasonal temperature variation.

Applications

  • Mobil Almo 500 Series oils are recommended for use in all pneumatically operated rock drills in both underground and surface mining as well as in contractor and other industrial applications. They are suitable for percussive- and rotary- type tools. The viscosity grades allow selection for year-round use where seasonal ambient temperature variations are extreme. • Pneumatically operated rock drills in underground and surface mining operations • Pneumatically operated drills and jack hammers in highway construction and building operations • Rock drills in quarry operations • Percussion and rotary air-operated tools in industrial applications
