Manufacturer's description

Mobil Gargoyle Arctic Oil 155, 300, and Mobil Gargoyle Arctic C Heavy are high-performance naphthenic mineral oils primarily intended for refrigeration compressors. They have low pour points and excellent fluidity at very low temperatures by virtue of being almost wax-free, which helps keep evaporator tubes clean for improved heat transfer and reduced maintenance downtime. With good chemical stability, they suit both cylinder and bearing lubrication, and are compatible with most refrigerants except sulphur dioxide — but are not recommended for use with HFC refrigerants. Available in ISO 32, 46 and 68 grades, the oils are recommended for cylinder and bearing lubrication in most conventional refrigeration compressors and other sub-zero machinery, including large industrial reciprocating and rotary refrigeration compressors, food freezing and cold storage plants, and marine refrigeration. They are used primarily with ammonia refrigerant, but also with selected halocarbons. Very low moisture content as packaged, and careful handling to keep the oils dry, help avoid ice formation in expansion valves and limit risks of oil degradation and copper plating. As the pioneering products of the Mobil Gargoyle Arctic brand, backed by decades of proven refrigeration performance, they offer low wax content for excellent low-temperature flow and evaporator heat transfer, good chemical stability for long service life and lower maintenance costs, and multi-purpose suitability for both cylinders and bearings that reduces oil inventories.

Applications

  • The Mobil Gargoyle Arctic Oil 155, 300, and Mobil Gargoyle Arctic C Heavy products are recommended for cylinder and bearing lubrication in most conventional refrigeration compressors and for other machinery operating at sub-zero temperatures.
