Paving Bitumen EM is a series of penetration-graded bitumen products derived from specially selected crude oils through carefully controlled refining processes. Quality is assured for every delivery, with production and control carried out under the ExxonMobil Global Product Integrity Management System, in line with EN ISO 9000 or an equivalent standard. The series covers three penetration grades — 35/50 EM, 50/70 EM and 70/100 EM — differentiated by penetration at 25°C, softening point, viscosity and low-temperature (Fraass) breaking point, each meeting or exceeding SR EN 12591. The grades are recommended for road construction; other applications should be validated by the user through appropriate testing before use. Typical properties include a softening point of 35-58°C and a Fraass breaking point of -5°C to -15°C depending on grade, with dynamic viscosity at 60°C ranging from 90 to 225 Pa·s across the three grades, giving asphalt producers a choice of stiffness for different climates and traffic conditions.

Applications

  • Paving Bitumen EM grades are recommended for road construction. If other applications are considered, then users should conduct appropriate testing before use.
