Mobil SHC Aware Gear Oil Series is a range of high performance, anti-wear gear oils for marine applications, formulated to meet the U.S. EPA 2013 Vessel General Permit (VGP) guidelines for environmentally acceptable lubricants. Available in ISO VG 68, 100 and 150 grades, they provide excellent wear protection for gears and bearings, safeguard against rust and corrosion, and offer outstanding oxidation properties that extend oil life across a wide operating temperature range with excellent low-temperature start-up. The series is suited to marine controllable pitch propeller and thruster applications, enclosed gear drives (steel-on-steel spur, helical and bevel designs), systems requiring readily biodegradable and minimally toxic fluids, marine and mobile equipment in environmentally sensitive areas, and select stern tube applications. It carries builder approvals from Everllence Alpha Propeller systems, Lagersmit Supreme FKM-EAL lip seals, Ortlinghaus-Werke and Wärtsilä Shaft Line Solutions seals, and meets or exceeds AFNOR EU Ecolabel, AGMA 9005-F16, DIN 51517-3:2018-09, ISO L-CKC/L-CKD (ISO 12925-1:2024) and US EPA VGP:2013 requirements, depending on grade.
