Mobil Velocite Oil Numbered Series is a range of premium performance, low-viscosity oils primarily designed for the lubrication of high-speed spindles in machine tools. Formulated from select high-quality base oils and additives, they also serve in some critical hydraulic systems, circulation systems and air line oilers when the appropriate viscosity grade is chosen. The oils provide good resistance to oxidation, very good protection against rust and corrosion, strong resistance to foaming, and separate readily from water. The series delivers exceptional lubrication of close-tolerance bearings, helping keep them running cool while maintaining the precision required by critical machine tools. Typical applications include high-speed spindle bearings, precision grinders, lathes, jig borers and tracer mechanisms, with Mobil Velocite Oil No. 3 recommended for zero-clearance spindle bearings and Mobil Velocite Oil No. 10 suited to air line oilers; the range is also used in low-pressure hydraulic systems and sensitive instruments such as telescopes and laboratory equipment. Because a single family covers both spindle and light hydraulic duty, it also helps reduce inventory costs and the risk of product misapplication. The series spans grades from ISO VG 2 (No. 3) to ISO VG 22 (No. 10), with rust protection confirmed by ASTM D665 (Procedure A, Pass) across all grades and flash points ranging from 84°C to 212°C depending on grade.

  • • High speed spindle bearings in machine tools and equipment where high speeds and fine clearances are involved • Precision grinders, lathes, jig borers and tracer mechanisms • Mobil Velocite Oil No 3 is recommended for "zero clearance" type spindle bearings which operate with extremely close clearances • For sleeve type spindle bearings having greater clearances, the choice of viscosity depends on the relation between clearance and spindle speed • Low pressure hydraulic systems where appropriate viscosity is selected • Air line oilers (Mobil Velocite Oil No. 10) • For some sensitive instruments such as telescopes, laboratory equipment, etc.
