Manufacturer's description
Cat ELC Extender is an additive used with Cat ELC (Extended Life Coolant), the extended-life coolant developed, tested and approved by Caterpillar for Cat and original equipment manufacturer (OEM) diesel and gasoline engines that use the organic acid technology corrosion-inhibitor system. Cat ELC Extender is added only once during the coolant's service life to renew the inhibitor package: it exceeds Cat EC-1 performance requirements and protects against cylinder liner/block pitting and cavitation erosion. It should be added at 6,000 hours (or 500,000 km / 300,000 miles for Cat-powered on-highway trucks) — roughly the mid-point of the coolant's life — after which Cat ELC performance is ensured to the full 12,000-hour or 1,000,000 km (600,000 mile) life. The system should then be drained and flushed with clean water at the end of that interval; no cleaning agents are needed. Cat ELC meets or exceeds Cat EC-1, ASTM D-3306, ASTM D-6210, SAE J1034 and TMC RP-329/RP-338, and also meets the performance requirements of Cummins, Detroit Diesel, International, Mack and Volvo. Distributed in Romania by Bergerat Monnoyeur.
Applications
- - Intended use (per safety data sheet): Heavy Duty Coolant
Performance & benefits
- Factory-Fill—Used as standard factory-fill for all Cat machine cooling systems
- Lower Maintenance Costs—Reduces engine coolant and additive costs by as much as 500% compared to conventional coolants. It eliminates the need for supplemental coolant additives, extends coolant change-out intervals and reduces disposal requirements
- Advanced Metal Protection—Incorporates an advanced formula technology with organic acid additive corrosion inhibitors, such as a combination of mono and dicarboxylates for maximum protection of copper, solder, brass, steel, cast iron and aluminum
- Cat ELC for Maximum Coolant Lifedetection Protect your investment with Cat S •O•S Coolant
- Cat DEACTM Analysis, the ultimate detection and diagnostic tool for your equipment. We recommend S•O•S Level 1 3000 Hour Life Coolant Analysis according to the engine’s 322,000 km (200,000 miles) or 3 years** (whichever comes first) Operation and Maintenance Manual, and Level 2 Cat Supplemental Coolant Additives Every 250 Hours or 25,000 km (15,000 miles) Coolant Analysis annually for all your Cat equipment. Cat ELC (Machines and Commercial Engines) Cat ELC Extender for Longer Life
- Exceeds Cat EC-1 performance requirements
- Protects against cylinder liner/block piting and cavitation erosion Cat Extender Every 6000 Hours* 12,000 Hour Life or 6 Years** • Should be added at 500,000 km (300,000 miles) for (whichever comes first) Cat powered on-highway trucks and 6,000 hours Cat ELC (Truck Engines) for commercial engines
- Extender is only necessary once during the life of the coolant
- Ensures Cat ELC performance to 1,000,000 Cat Extender Every 500,000 km (300,000 miles)* 1,000,000 km (600,000 miles) or 6 Years** km (600,000 miles) or 12,000 hours (whichever comes first) * Or one-half of the coolant service life. Cat ELC Extender and Flush ** These coolant change intervals are only possible with annual S•O•S Level 2 coolant sampling Intervals and analysis. Cat ELC Extender should be added after 6,000 hours or 300,000 miles (500,000 km) of operation, and the
