Mobilarma 798 is a premium performance rust preventive intended for the lubrication and rust protection of wire rope in industrial, construction, mining and marine applications. It exhibits excellent water-displacing properties and forms thin, tenacious films that protect surfaces even under severe conditions, including high moisture levels and exposure to acid or corrosive fumes. The product forms a grease-like film that protects wire ropes against the corrosion tendencies of salt spray and moisture-laden atmospheres, remains effective across the temperature extremes encountered at sea, and provides good protection against mild acids. It stays pliable at -35°C and will not drip at 60°C, resists throw-off in high-speed service, and adheres without being tacky or stringy. The film is self-healing and does not chip, working well between the strands of wire rope to provide both lubrication and protective coverage — reducing wear, extending rope life and minimizing maintenance costs. It is compatible with other wire rope core impregnating materials applied during manufacture, and is easy to apply and economical to use. Mobilarma 798 is recommended for the lubrication and preservation of strands and running ropes, and for the impregnation of steel wire ropes during manufacture. Typical properties include a dropping point of 63°C (ASTM D2265), flash point of 238°C (ASTM D92, Cleveland Open Cup), and kinematic viscosity of 23.1 mm²/s at 100°C (ASTM D445).
