Manufacturer's description

Mobilarma 500 Series is a range of premium performance oils intended primarily as run-in or lay-up lubricants, providing effective rust-preventive films on the internal surfaces of machinery, and particularly suited as run-in lubricants for diesel and gasoline engines. The oils displace water from metal surfaces and form strong, water-resistant films to prevent rust and corrosion; any water present in the system is absorbed into a water-in-oil emulsion so contact surfaces continue to receive satisfactory lubrication. High chemical stability together with anti-wear and detergent properties make them suitable as high-quality short-term lubricants. In most applications the residual rust-preventive film does not need to be flushed away before the equipment is filled with service lubricant and returned to operation, simplifying lay-up and start-up procedures. Flushing is recommended only in specific cases — for example where Mobilarma cannot meet the operating loads and temperatures required, where drainage is difficult, where contamination could impair system oil performance, or where residual rust-preventive agents would reduce water-separation ability in turbines and similar equipment. Typical uses include run-in and lay-up oil for engines and industrial equipment, turbines out of service for extended periods, hydraulic systems where emulsion formation will not affect operation, and test/calibration oil. The series is offered in two viscosities (Mobilarma 522 and 524), with kinematic viscosities of 28.8 and 88.4 cSt at 40°C respectively, viscosity index of 95, pour points of -24°C and -18°C, and flash points of 182°C and 218°C.

Applications

  • Run-in oil and lay-up oil for engines and industrial equipment Turbines that will be out of service for long periods Hydraulic systems where water is present and the formation of emulsions will not effect operation Test calibration oil

Performance & benefits

  • Excellent Rust and Corrosion ProtectionReduced clean-up time required to place equipment back into production Displaces water from metal surfaces and form tenacious protective films
  • Effective Anti-Wear Properties Dual Purpose Lubricant/Rust-Preventive NatureProtects equipment against wear Reduced costs and time for run-in, testing or adjustment procedures Eliminates unnecessary flushing and draining steps
