Cat Hydraulic Hammer Paste (Grease) is formulated to lower friction and improve tool and bushing life in the harsh environments encountered with hydraulic impact hammer applications. These work tools generate high heat, severe shock and heavy friction loads that can fuse parts together; Cat Hydraulic Hammer Paste contains optimized amounts of copper and graphite to provide wear protection even at temperatures higher than 2,000°F (1,093°C). The paste is formulated for extreme temperatures and applications, with strong adhesion even in the presence of water, and it performs under conditions of dirt and contamination. It slows wear, helps prevent seizing, and is stable and corrosion resistant. Hydraulic hammers and other tools experience extreme conditions that can lead to rapid wear of guide bushings; Cat Hydraulic Hammer Paste is formulated to cling to parts even under high shock, extreme pressure, high temperature and extreme wet conditions, creating load-bearing layers of protection that help reduce metal-to-metal contact where other greases can break down. It is a copper-colored, NLGI class 2 grease with an aluminum complex thickener in a mineral base oil. Typical values from the Cat technical data sheet include worked penetration of 265-295 mm/10, viscosity of 350 cSt at 40°C, a 4-ball EP weld point of 550 kg, and a dropping point of 260°C (500°F).
