Manufacturer's description

Mobilfluid 422 is an extra high performance, multipurpose tractor lubricant engineered to meet or exceed transmission and hydraulic fluid requirements. It is formulated for the service top-up and refill of transmissions, final drives, and hydraulic systems of farm and industrial tractors and other mobile equipment, especially those with oil-immersed brake systems, and is designed with special frictional characteristics to prevent squawk and chatter in wet brakes while delivering consistent braking performance. It combines high performance base oils with an advanced additive package to meet the varied requirements of heavy-duty gear transmissions and heavily loaded final drives. It is recommended for heavy-duty transmissions, differentials, final drives, hydraulic systems, power steering systems, wet brakes, PTOs and hydrostatic drives in agricultural, contractor and industrial applications, including top-up and refill of systems and sintered bronze oil-immersed disc brakes; it is not for use in passenger car automatic transmissions. Key benefits include enhanced frictional properties for immersed disc brakes giving maximum braking efficiency with reduced squawk and chatter, compatibility with clutch materials and elastomers for longer clutch life, strong anti-wear and extreme pressure properties, high thermal and oxidation stability, and good filterability for clean, smooth operation. Mobilfluid 422 is recommended by ExxonMobil for applications requiring API GL-4 and Massey Ferguson CMS M1135, and meets or exceeds Ford ESEN-M2C86-B.

Applications

  • Recommended by ExxonMobil for use in: • Heavy-duty transmissions, differentials, final drives, hydraulic systems, power steering systems, wet brakes, PTOs and hydrostatic drives used in agricultural, contractor, and industrial applications • Top-up and refill of systems • Sintered bronze oil-immersed disc brakes • Do not use in passenger car automatic transmissions • Applications requiring API GL-4 or SAE 80 Grade lubricants in all gear applications except hypoid gear designs

Standards & approvals

  • API GL-4

Gear oil, API GL-4 service level

API's service designation for axle and manual transmission oils.

  • MASSEY FERGUSON CMS M1135

Massey Ferguson CMS M1135 — tractor fluid

A series of Massey Ferguson works standards for the fluids in its own tractors; the M11xx numbers separate engine oil, the universal transmission-hydraulic-brake fluid and axle oil.

  • Ford ESEN-M2C86-B

Ford ESEN-M2C86-B — tractor hydraulic fluid

Ford's older specification for the fluid in tractor hydraulics and transmission. Superseded by the M2C134 series.
